It was a pretty abrupt change in battery performance after one of those 13.3 dot releases, so I noticed it right away. Starting with roughly iPadOS 13.3.1, I started noticing pretty severe battery drain in standby. I used it exclusively with the Smart Keyboard Folio, and never had the Magic Keyboard for it. I had battery issues with my 2018 11" iPad Pro. I will do the best I can to sum this up in a way that makes the most sense, because I have had quite a bit of experience with this issue: Honestly, I think it's a combination of things. I’m fine charging the iPad daily I just want to understand whether there may be an issue with this particular keyboard as it’s still within the return window.įor those with similar set-ups, is this what you are seeing? Many thanks in advance. I do notice that on occasion the backlighting will stay on after I close the cover, but hopefully that is something that a software update can address. It’s not draining unreasonably fast in use, and I’ve turned down the backlighting because I rarely need it. With the keyboard, it’s more like 12-18% a day in standby mode. My only question is what is normal battery drain with the Magic Keyboard? My 2018 11“ is a WiFi-only model and probably would lose 5-8% of battery life per day in standby mode. Enough so that my next Mac will be an iMac and not a notebook. I’ve had Smart Keyboards for the iPad Pro since the first 9.7” Pro (keyboard and iPad still going strong 4 years later!) and this is just a completely different typing/use experience. I’ll say this first: The Magic Keyboard is amazing, as much as I wanted to not be impressed with it because of the cost.
